GROUP PLAY

Group Play is "A select number of players scheduling reserved courts and day/time for a specific type, level or style of pickleball play".

Group play is designed to provide play options that will help meet the needs of our membership in a more focused setting. A group may be designed in any number of ways: a select number of players, a group that is scheduled, yet open to members for sign-up participation, a specific level of play (novice, intermediate, advanced, etc.), a specific style of play (competitive, recreational, etc.), an identified type of play (training, social mixer, instructional or skills-based, etc.), gender or age specific - the possibilities are as varied as your creativeness!

How does a group get set up?

Once members decide they'd like to establish a new group, they will provide the WRPBC board of directors with a group title, identify the member who will become the group administrator, and request their desired day and time of play (please check the current club schedule prior to selecting your day/time).

A board member will then set up the group in Live Pickleball and assist the group administrator in establishing the initial scheduling.

What are the Group Play guidelines?

Keeping in mind that there are always a limited number of resources, the following guidelines have been established by the Board of Directors and may be updated and/or modified based on current club and membership needs.

  • Any created group may run its events for up to ONE SEASON:

                    "Off " Season = May 1st – October 31st

                    "High" Season = November 1st – April 30th

Groups wishing to carry on into the following season must submit a new request to the Board with a requested day and time of play in order to equalize any “prime time” play hours throughout all groups.

  • Any particular group may schedule one day & time slot for their events per week – to allow for multiple group play.

  • Time slots are in increments of 2 hours, maximum.

  • A group may schedule the use of a maximum of 4 courts for their events (additional courts may be used if available but must be ceded to any “drop-in” play upon request). Group admins may opt to create and place “reserved” placards/signs on scheduled courts for their event.

  • Note: Scheduled group play does not guarantee that a rotation system won’t need to be used – this is dependent upon whether other courts are available for use at the time of play.

  • Group play scheduling is dependent on availability of courts (groups may not override previously scheduled play times for regular member play, structured play, or special events).

  •  Troon policy dictates that a minimum of 1 court be available for non-club members to use a majority of the time (structured play and group play during slow play times may be evaluated for exclusion or exception to this rule on an individual basis).
